This page should help you should you decide you would like to have an original portrait of your pet and would like to know how to go about commissioning a portrait.

Confirm details: Use the Galleries and Prices for information on how to make your decision. To discuss your order fully and to provide me with the relevant details you can contact me by email.

Send photographs: Photographs should be clear, taken in natural light and, where possible, include a headshot. This is to give me the best indication of your pets hair and eye colour. Quite simply, the better the photograph, the better the picture. For more information on photographing your pet click here.

Send as many photographs as you can highlighting such things as your favourite pose, which shows the true colouring etc. I know this is not always possible, especially with deceased pets or old photographs, but send me the best of what you have as I may still be able to use them.

Sending your photographs to me via email is the safest option but where this is not possible send them to me by mail or on CD. All photographs will be returned with your finished portrait.

Confirm order: Once I have received the photographs and details of your order I will email you to let you know whether or not the photographs are suitable for me to work from and to finalize your order. I request a 25% non-returnable deposit confirming your order and place in my work schedule. At this point I will be in a position to give you a completion date.

Completion times: This may vary depending on the number of commissions I am doing and the time of year. I normally work a 2 - 3 week timetable but am happy to discuss shorter timescales for special occasions. Please book early for Christmas. If you have left it a little late to have a portrait completed in time why not consider a gift voucher.

View portrait as a work in progress: So that we can maintain a closer customer/artist relationship your portrait will be available to view as a 'work in progress' on this site. As well as giving you an insight into the process involved in creating your portrait it gives you the opportunity to inform me of any changes you think might be necessary and ensures you are happy with the way your portrait is developing.

If you would prefer not to have your portrait shown on these pages I can email you the work in progress direct or create a web page that no one can view but you. Either way you can have peace of mind knowing how your portrait is progressing.

Payment: This can be completed through PayPal using their Email Payments option. This allows you to pay online using a credit card, bank account or PayPal balance. Once you are completely happy with your portrait I will send you a PayPal invoice via email. You simply click a link in the email to make a payment making it a quick and secure method of payment.

Alternatively you can pay by cheque - please make payable to Laura Hardie. UK customers can also pay by postal order. Portraits are dispatched on receipt of full payment.

Delivery
Within the UK portraits are sent using Royal Mails Special Delivery service. This guarantees next working day delivery. All overseas portraits are sent using Airsure where time of delivery can vary between 5 and 8 days. Both services include insurance against loss or damage in transit.

Both services are secure and reliable with all parcels electronically tracked. I will email you to let you know when it was posted
